History of North Adelaide
Colonel William Light was the Surveyor General for South Australia. He completed the survey for South Australia’s capital city ‘Adelaide” on March 10th 1837. Included in this survey 342 acres north of the River Torrens. North Adelaide was the name taken on for this area.
An interesting note is that “William Lawrence Bragg” came from North Adelaide. He was the co recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1915
